Health & Safety Policy

It is the stated intention of Lewis & Hunter Contracting Limited, so far as is reasonably practicable, to provide safe and healthy working conditions for our employees (including any self-employed individuals), to commit to the prevention of injury and ill health, and to ensure that our operations do not adversely affect the health and safety of anyone else, such as our clients’ employees, other contractors, the general public, or any other person.

In order to adhere to this primary objective, we will, so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • comply with all statutory requirements, codes of practice, official guidance, and the requirements of this policy;

  • consult with our employees on all matters concerning health and safety generally and in particular regarding individual responsibilities;

  • request and require the support and cooperation of all our employees in order to achieve the objectives of this policy;

  • ensure that all relevant general and/or specific training is either provided or undertaken by our employees, including any self-employed individuals;

  • ensure that all information necessary to undertake work safely is provided to our employees, including any self-employed individuals and any other persons or organisations who require it;

  • make adequate financial and human resources available to implement this policy;

  • cooperate fully with, and request and require the full cooperation of our clients and their employees and/or agents, statutory undertakers, authorities, and any other persons or organisations as necessary to ensure safety;

  • assess the risks to our workers and to any other people affected by our operations, such as our clients’ employees, other contractors, or the general public. Once risks have been identified, safe systems of work will be developed and implemented.

This policy will be reviewed annually and amended as necessary. Any revisions will be notified to any individuals or organisations that will be affected by the changes. Specific goals and objectives will be established at management reviews and/or by the implementation of corrective, preventive, and improvement actions as appropriate between reviews.

Environmental Policy

At Lewis & Hunter Contracting Limited, we strive to reduce our environmental impact by constantly reviewing and improving our processes and operational procedures. We are committed to:

  • fulfilling our compliance obligations, including all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and other codes of practice, as stipulated by the client or local authority;

  • protecting the environment and preventing pollution;

  • minimising the negative impact of our activities on the environment;

  • considering environmental issues when planning and developing new and existing activities;

  • maintaining employee awareness of our environmental policy and responsibilities;

  • ensuring that adequate training and resources are available to support the policy;

  • monitoring, evaluating, and continuously improving our management system.

Specific goals and objectives will be established at management reviews and/or by the implementation of corrective, preventive, and improvement actions as appropriate between reviews. All personnel within Lewis & Hunter Contracting are required to perform their duties in compliance with the company’s defined policies and procedures.
